Jour 20 - Amazing Race to Nice!!

September 9th, Friday

It was such a gloomy Friday before getting to Nice @_@
Kwi and I went out of our flat when suddenly it started raining. It was so hard because aside from carrying our luggages and dog sandwiches, we had to walk in the train with our tiny tiny umbrellas. Aira suggested that we take the metro so that we'll be familiar with it. But the clock was ticking so fast! We were literally running from one end to another. I was the only one who had a little stroller so imagine I was carrying it all around since we were really running since we took so long in the ticket counter. Major thing that happened: we were such in a hurry that Aira fell! It was both funny and scary but we were all laughing about it in the train ride.

Here we are in the most tiresome train ride ever! Buying the dog sandwich really helped us through the whole 7-hour train ride.

We had a 1-hour stop over in Lyon! So the girls and I decided to squander and roam around the city.

This is Lyon, it's much more modern compared to Lille. And the weather is way way happier!

We went inside the mall and I was so happy to see this store!

This store is just so pretty! All the notebooks, art materials, random things are just so cute (and expensive) @_@ So happy to see a rack of Hello Kitty stuff!

We got back to the train and this time, we were finally off to Nice!

I was trying so hard to stay awake the whole time cause the view from the train is just too beautiful. The girls and I were getting really excited when we saw water already!

By around 19:00, we finally got to Nice!

The girls and I both agree that Nice feels more like home. There are just so many Asians around - and so many Asian restaurants! <3

And so since this is our first official trip outside Lille, this is also our first official experience staying at a hostel! You know how a lot of the Hollywood movies feature hostels in a scary and dirty manner, well Backpacker's Chez Patrick wasn't bad at all. I thought at first that the hostel was a whole building - only to find out that it's just one floor of a building. The way upstairs that building was creepy and old smelling though! But other than that, we were perfectly satisfied because the hostel is clean!!!! Too bad I wasn't able to take a picture of the bathroom. Haha

The receptionist of Chez Patrick was nice enough to tell us the good restaurants around town and places near Nice (such as Monaco and Grasse).

After settling in, we decided to walk around and look for the famous pizza place the receptionist was saying.

Oh just a side note: there are a lot of talented people in the streets of Nice. This guy is really awesome - spray paint genius!

We finally found the place (the receptionist was saying that their pizza is way better than authentic Italian, uh yeah I highly doubt it but trying out the place was worth a shot).

We ordered their best seller pizza called Flammekueche (pizza with onions, bacon and cream) and..

the Moules pizza with tomato, mussels, garlic and parsley. Pizza heaven! We vote the Moules pizza to be better than the Flammekueche

Oh check out this fountain - the girls and I are not quite sure of what the name is but we just call this the pe**s fountain! Haha. It's our indication of where the restaurants and boutique shops are. The other statues surrounding this main statue also have similar poses. I wish I knew the history behind it!
xx
