Jour 10 - Bruxelles

August 30th, Tuesday

Went on a day trip with Kwi's family to Brussels! :)

We rode the Eurostar going there (it's the train that takes passengers to London).

We had to ride the Metro in order to get to the Grand Place.

We noticed that each train station had a different theme - this one I liked the one because of the intricate hand design :)

 Notice the handle? They're leather!!

Their train stations are really pretty!

As a tourist, I just take a lot of pictures! Hahaha most of the time I don't even know the names of the buildings. Lol. They're just too beautiful :)

The Mcdo in Brussels is nice!

See this man? We all thought he was a statue! Haha. Yun pala, he was real!

Dandoy's is a very famous pastry store in Belgium. The pastries were too expensive for my wallet that I was just in the store to try their samples. The lady made us first try this one. Uggggh. I didn't like it. I smells and tastes like medicine! :|

The second was the Pain a la Grecque. This was good!!!

BEEEER <3 Okay, so Kwi and I bought two bottles of flavored beer so that we can try them when she comes back from Paris! :)

We saw this cute little store with so many drawings! <3

Fresh baked cooooooookies! Aaaah!

I was able to try this one. This a biscuit that has chocolate in the center. Delish!

Since Auntie Rosie bought a box full of assorted cookies, we were able to try this! They're nuts covered in chocolate. They're in different colors because the store used natural ingredients such as paprika :) Really good!

This is the Grand Place of Belgium. The architecture of each building is so nice! Pictures really can't show how beautiful were the sights I saw that day.

You know how in movies there are always artists in famous sights? Well, I finally saw one with my very eyes!

Auntie Rosie treated us for a bag of strawberries dipped in Godiva chocolate! :)

Next stop! To try Belgian waffles!!!!!! :)

I ordered waffles with strawberries and chocolate!! I had a hard time eating it cause the plastic spoon was so tiny! The serving was so big but 1200 calories was all worth it!

Notice anything similar to the following pictures?

 ...
 ...Aha!

Yes, they're all patterned from the very famous Manneken Pis. When I got to the place, I was so shocked at how small the sculpture was. Haha! Check out the girl! Her friend was taking a creative shot of her and the sculpture :))

...Every corner we go to, we see waffles! I was so tempted to eat more but my tummy had to reserve room for other Belgian food!

Aside from waffles, Belgium is definitely known for their chocolates. Nakakahilo ang seleksyon! Truly, there's just too much stores to choose from - so many kinds and varieties of chocolate! The ones above are samples of the chocolate I found interesting!

Oh and guess what? We were able to see a record store! These pictures are dedicated to Tito Augsie! Hi Tito! Haha

Cute postcards! :)

Auntie Rosie really wanted to see Parc du Cinquantenaire so Kwi, Ronnie and me joined her to get to that place! Can I just say? The place is just amazing!!!! It's too beautiful. We couldn't imagine that it was only built in 1905.

Roommate picture!

The European pose, according to Ronnie!

The park itself is really beautiful!

The only ugly thing I saw in the park - eeeew. Someone left his bread @_@

We went shopping for a bit! Hihi Forever 21! Gahhhhhhh!

We couldn't leave Brussels without eating mussels and frites!

We went to Piazza Italia which seemed to be serving good food!!

We got the mussels in garlic and cream sauce.

Served with frites and super good mayo!

We also got Rabbit with Geuze (a type of beer).

Oh just wanted to show you guys a picture of how a Croque Madame looks like! Isn't so pretty!! That's what Vienna got :)

Creme Brulee!

And complementary gelato for desert :D

We were going back home to Lille and can I just share what happened to us? So our train back to Lille was at 19:59 and we made sure we had ample time to look for the Eurostar. But we thought wrong! Six minutes before 19:59, we still couldn't find the platform!!!!!! Until I saw the sign! OMG. It was so crazy! We were running as fast as we can! I almost ran out of breath!!!!! We got to the train just in the nick of time! I wish I documented us running because I would have been laughing so hard now trying to recall what happened. Hahaha

We were back in Lille safe!! Before I go, check this out! It's a four-story high Mcdo! Anyway, fun 11-hour day trip in Bruxelles! I shall be back there to watch...

Yes, you heard me right! :)
