Jour 3 - L'orientation 101

August 23rd, Tuesday

Finally the first day of orientation! Kwi and I were rushing really bad cause Mrs. Liagre offered to take us to the school today. It was raining and Mr. Liagre was really nice enough to drive us to the place :) When we got there, I was shocked by the sea of people. Yes, there were so many people in one room eating breakfast. We went inside and we didn't see any familiar faces for about 10 minutes - until I saw Aira and other Filipinos (the Atenistas).

 Our morning look @_@

 Us with the Ateneo people.

Okay I was suppose to take a picture when the place was full. It was really full that the place felt so hot to stay inside for a long time!

Around 300 international students in the room.

So Lille is known for its really good beer (as you can see). But wait! Kwi, what are you doing there?

 Hmmmmmm..

 Stuff inside our IESEG schoolbag.

Mr. Pascal, one of the administrators, did a roll call on the different nationalities of the international students. When he said China, there was this guy (the one in red) who raised his hand. Imagine that! Everyone was laughing and laughing about it!

 IESEG Building B.

Lunch was still sponspored by the international club. They gave us Dog Sandwiches - really good deli sandwiches. The bread was so soft! For desert, they gave us Prince - its quite good!

Brets is good! I love how its salty and very crisp! :)

Over lunch, we met this Thai named Rattanaporn (nickname is Pik). She's 26 and already taking up her masters.

After lunch, we had more orientation about the school and administrative stuff. I liked when all those were done, this professor named Dr. Clifton talked about intercultural communication and culture shock. The culture shock hasn't sunk in. I'm still trying to get used to things around here, especially with the individualism mentality of people (unlike in Manila where it's collectivism).

We had a campus tour after the lecture. It's amazing how the buildings are far from each other and students really have to exert effort in going from one building to another. There are no elevators in school as well so we have to always walk.

Saw this on the side of the road! Wow, the partying on a yacht seems epic!

I just had to take a picture of this place. Sorry but the place sounded so funny! :>

We had dinner with the rest of the international students in Flam's (located in Rue de Pas). It's this restaurant that serves brick oven pizza. The deal that night was to pay 10 EUR for dinner. It was inclusive of beer, unlimited pizza both as the main course and desert.

I thought they were offering all kinds of beer but apparently, they were only offering Kronenbourg.

The taste of Kronenbourg is very malty. I'm not sure of the alcohol content but it's quite good. But I'm excited to try others. For me, Super Dry is better than Kronenbourg.

As I said, we had overflowing orders of pizzas. What a way to end the day! The pizzas they serve in Flam's are thin crust (like really really thin). They're good The mushrooms are fresh and they have this special white sauce (I'm guessing it's cheese) all over.

For desert, we had chocolate pizza.

..and apple pie pizza!

It was pretty late already so we decided to go home. But.. We kinda got lost! Good thing we had a map with us!

This car looked too cool. I just had to be a stalker and take a picture!

Because we got lost, we ended in this street that we full of boutique shops. Kwi and I got so excited when we saw a pate shop <3 We want to try their stuff next time! :)
